Hope.
The Hope. Project
On the morning of October 11th, a plane wrote the word "Hope" four times in the sky above the greater Boston area. The word was seen over Copley square and as far north as Nashua, New Hampshire. Simultaneously, throughout Boston, postcards with the word "Hope" printed on the front were distributed by hand to people on the street. They were encouraged to send their postcard to someone who needs it. Fourty people volunteered to distribute 5000 cards.
The Hope. Project is a collaborative effort that has involved
over fifty people. Morgan Schwartz, Bridget Murphy, David Webber
and Amy Sharp spearhead the project. Prior to Hope., they worked
on the exhibition "Pressure" for the Boston Cyber arts Festival,
2001 at Gallery @ Green Street. Sharp, Schwartz, and Webber
are currently producing work as a team called Plunger Hammock.

"Pressure" was a site- specific installation where computer controlled sensors manipulated the sights and sounds of daily commuting. It addressed issues of accelerated culture and the evolving metaphors for speed and progress. The exhibition was held at Gallery @ Green Street, an alternative exhibition space located in a subway station in Boston, Massachusetts.
